Course Overview

This foundational course strips away the mysticism around artificial intelligence and replaces it with clear, structured logic. You will learn how computers encode information — from the binary switches that form every pixel on your screen to the character sets that represent every letter you type. You'll write your first lines of Python code, build decision trees from scratch, and confront the ethical questions that emerge when machines start making decisions that affect people's lives. By the end, you won't just use AI — you'll understand what it actually is.

What You'll Learn

  • Explain the intelligence spectrum and where modern AI sits within it
  • Translate everyday logic problems into Python code using variables and data types
  • Build decision trees and automate repetitive tasks using loops
  • Describe how images, text, and numbers are encoded in binary
  • Organise and retrieve structured data using Lists and Dictionaries
  • Critically evaluate AI systems for transparency, bias, and fairness
  • Articulate the ethical implications of automated decision-making
  • Navigate a cloud development environment confidently
